Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach said Manny Pacquiao is not at all bothered by the brutal knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012, not as much as the defeat he suffered against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in the richest boxing fight in 2015.

"Manny Pacquiao knows that being knocked out is part of the sport and accepts it more than anyone else. It's part of the sport, unfortunately, things happen and that night things did not go our way," Roach told Eduard Cauich.

He added that Pacquiao believes that getting knocked out is part of the sport. "We were a a punch away from getting the same result on the other side. If Manny had not lost his balance, he would not have been beaten that way. When they knocked me out the first time I was never the same, but Manny Pacquiao sees it as part of the sport and that's why I think he's so efficient in the sport."

Roach is hoping that Pacquiao will get a rematch with Mayweather. "Mayweather has spoken badly about him. I think the winner of this fight can get the fight against Mayweather. I hope it happens, I would like to see that, I was very disappointed in the first fight against Mayweather," Roach was quoted by Boxing Scene.

"In that fight, Manny told me he could not move his arm in the fourth round, I told him not to hurt himself, to go with the flow, I would have liked for him to be operated on before the fight, so he wouldn't get injured during the fight, but it happened. Now his shoulder seems to look good now. Hopefully we'll fight that guy once more and see the real Manny Pacquiao."

He emphasized that he had been dealing with Pacquiao for a long time now and when his work ethic dwindles, he is going to tell him to retire. But Roach says that moment has not come.

"His discipline is incredible, he has always been very busy, he has always wanted to do more, in basketball, in the ring, it doesn't matter. In two weeks I will tell him no more basketball, I will tell him that he doesn't do basketball anymore, to play darts."

Head trainer Buboy Fernandez said Manny has now reached his peak. "Thank God the sacrifices he underwent from the time we pitched camp in Manila five months ago has now been rewarded. Imagine, before we left Manila, Manny had to shuttle back and forth daily from his house, working out on the road then to his Senate office before noon to attend sessions and meetings then to the gym."

"Manny's now in tip-top shape and can fight any time from today. He'll just relax in the next few days of the training program although we also need to watch out so Manny can avoid getting sick..... fever, cold, cough, that's our enemy today and this stage of preparations that we should avoid," Buboy told The Manila Times.

Mikey Garcia?s trainer Robert Garcia is monitoring the coming Manny Pacquiao vs Adrien Broner fight on January 19, anticipating a fight against either of the two could happen for Mikey Garcia later this year. ?I?d be very surprised if Manny knocks him (Broner) out, honestly. I think Manny wins by decision but if he wins by knockout he (Pacquiao) still has it," Robert Garcia told EsNews.
