New York - Earlier this year, the annual World?s Strongest Man competition was held in Manila, Philippines. Emerging on top of the nine-day meet that was held in various parts of the country was Iceland?s Haf??r J?l?us Bj?rnsson - popularly known as the actor who plays The Mountain in Home Box Office?s (HBO) hit show Game of Thrones.

Armed with that crown and two other major strongman titles that he won this year, Bj?rnsson brought his strength and commercial appeal to a promotional event sponsored by Krazy Glue at Center 415 in 5th Avenue Wednesday night.

Bj?rnsson who is widely known as Thor (another name that alludes to a strong character in pop culture) told this writer that he had a great time during his stay in the Philippines during the competition that was held from April 26 to May 30.

?It was great. The Philippines was great.?

Bj?rnsson who probably is the most popular Icelandic today, also met the most popular citizen of the Philippines in Manny Pacquiao during his visit.

?He was amazing,? said Bj?rnsson.

The strongman and actor posted a picture of them two together in his Instagram account last April when the two athletes were invited to an opening of a sports store in a mall in Muntinglupa City, Manila.

This author informed Bj?rnsson that Pacquiao will be fighting Adrien Broner next and Bj?rnsson asked when the fight is.

?So it?s soon,? he uttered after he was told that Pacquiao and Broner is on for January 19, 2019 in Las Vegas.

At 6?9? and 440 pounds, Bj?rnsson is used to deadlifting more than a thousand pounds in his record-breaking stints as well as crushing skulls in his role as The Mountain on Game of Thrones but he is also an admirer of the exploits of a 5?6, 140 pound boxer from the Philippines.
