Alex Aroy who arrived in Johannesburg with trainer Brix Flores for his WBC International light flyweight title fight against undefeated South African Phumzile Matyhila on Friday has made the weight in the pre-fight medical.

Well known promoter Branco Milenkovic informed Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today that the pre-fight medical was conducted after Aroy?s arrival following a very long trip from Manila. Milenkovic said that unlike his previous fight against Zukisani Kwayiba for the minimum weight title when he had ?a huge problem making the weight, this fight is in the right division for Aroy.?

Aroy lost a controversial seventh round decision in a WBC International mini flyweight title fight against Kwayiba in Johannesburg last September when the lights suddenly went out at the Nasrec Indoor Center and Kwayiba was declared the winner. The result was based on the judges scorecards after seven rounds when Aroy appeared to be getting the better of the champion.

Milenkovic kept his promise to give Aroy another chance after many ringside fans saw an even fight while some even had the Filipino ahead.

According to the promoter, Aroy had ?very light training? at the Randburg Towers Hotel in an exclusive side of Johannesburg since he knew about the fight well in advance ?so all the sparring and preparations have been done in the Philippines.?

Milenkovic said that if Aroy ?performs the way he did against Kwayiba it will not be an easy fight for Mathyila? even as he predicted ?the fight will go the distance.?

Matyhila who will be making the first defense of his WBC International junior flyweight title which he won last June. He is a former Olympian and is undefeated in 15 bouts with 9 knockouts.
