
PACQUIAO-MATTHYSSE FEATS, FACTS AND FIGURES 6:  MANNY WILL NOT COMMIT THE SAME MISTAKES HE DID IN HORN FIGHT SAYS FORTUNE

Manny Pacquiao won?t commit the same mistakes that he made when he last fought against Jeff Horn, conditioning coach Justin Fortune said that the 39-year-old Pacquiao, who fights Argentina's Lucas Matthysse for the World Boxing Association welterweight title on July 15 in Malaysia, has learned his lesson.

?He knows he can?t afford to stay on the ropes and get trapped in the corner because that?s where Matthysse wants him,? said Fortune as told to The Manila Bulletin.

Fortune commented that Pacquiao?s gaffe during his last fight was to let the Australian bruiser to corner him. ?We are not going to repeat that,? promised Fortune.  He said Matthysse is slow but dangerous. ?You don?t take him lightly."

Buboy Fernandez, Pacquiao's new chief trainer, says two sparmates have developed reluctance towards sparring with the Filipino boxing icon.

A third sparmate, Australian George Kambosos, resorted to counter-punching to avoid getting hit as often as the two Filipino sparmates, reported Nick Giongco of Manila Bulletin.  ?Right now we are at 80 percent,? said Fernandez.

Team Pacquiao is scheduled to leave for Kuala Lumpur from General Santos City on July 9 on board a chartered Philippine Airlines jet.

The ?Fight of Champions? the title fight between champion Lucas Matthysse and challenger Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to be shown at 170 countries and is becoming a World Cup of Boxing.  It will be televised in Asia, South America, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia Pacific, Oceania, the Far East and the Caribbean, and boxing fans all over the world will witness a multi-nation pro boxing event on July 15.

The Pacquiao vs. Matthysse main event will be telecast live at 12 noon from the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, that's around 8 p.m. on July 14 in the US and Mexico via satellite.

The World Cup of Boxing, will headline the   Philippines versus Argentina for the WBA welterweight title with Pacquiao and Matthysse.

Other championship bouts presented by promoter Manny Pacquiao of MP Promotions include the WBA world title matches between Venezuela's Carlos Canizales and China's Lu Bin for the WBA light-flyweight title, as well as South Africa's Moruti Mthalane against Pakistan's Muhammad Waseem for the IBF flyweight title.

In the main supporting bout, it will be Mexico's Edivaldo Ortega against the Philippines' Jhack Tepora for the WBA featherweight title.

Malaysia will showcase its best fighters Muhammad Farkhan, Theena Thayalan and Alman Abu Baker facing opponents from Thailand and two Indian foes, respectively, in the undercards which are loaded with fighters from different countries.  Other nations represented in the event include Australia and Japan.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. commented on the Pacquiao-Matthysse showdown. "That's a good match-up, a very exciting fight," Mayweather was quoted by ABS-CBN. "Manny Pacquiao and Lucas Matthysse are great fighters.  So it's a great match-up.  They are both former world champions, so it should be a very, very good fight."
