No White House Visit for Curry, Warriors

Will the long-practiced tradition of championship-winning pro sports teams visiting the White House be a thing of the past?

Or at least during the administration of President Donald Trump? It sure seems that way.

Last week, the White House, in an unprecedented decision, disinvited the Super Bowl champs Philadelphia Eagles less than 24 hours before their scheduled visits, accusing the team of abandoning their fans.

Few days after even before he Golden State Warriors swept the Cleveland Cavaliers to win their ire NBA plum, the President announced that regardless of whoever wins between the two teams will not get invitation to the ?People?s House.?

Ergo, Stephen Curry, Finals MVP Kevin Durant, fellow All-Stars Klay Thompson and Draymond Green and the Warriors will not have a chance to set foot on the white House doorstep.

Lost in the back and forth has been the fact that the Minnesota Lynx, the most recent WNBA champions, weren't ever invited to the White House in the first place.

Trump said though he'd be happy to host the Washington Capitals, who just won the Stanley Cup.

Speaking of pro basketball teams not going to the White House, regardless of who wins the NBA finals, neither team has any interest in going, coming straight from Curry himself and LeBron James, two of NBA?s the biggest stars.

Curry and James, in separate statements, expressed their disinterest in visiting, anyway.

Trump told reporters on Friday, a day before the Warriors? 4-0 sweep of the Cavs: "I didn't invite LeBron James, and I didn't invite Steph Curry. We're not going to invite either team."

"If they want to be here, it's the greatest place on Earth. I'm here. If they don't want to be here, I don't want them."

Asked by media men to comment on the cancellation of the Eagles? visit, Lebron said: ?It?s typical of him. I?m not surprised. I know no matter who wins this series no one wants to get invited to go.?

"Let's not let someone uninviting you from their house take away from their championship. Winning a championship is way bigger than getting invited to the White House, especially with him in it," he added.

LeBron took rump to task for not inviting the WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx to the White House, which might not come as a surprise since the team and the league have been vocal advocates of the very same issues raised by the NFL players protesting racial inequality and police brutality.

Curry echoed LeBron James? sentiments, saying there is no chance the Golden State Warriors would attend a White House ceremony should the team win another NBA title.

"The way we handled things last year...we'll stay consistent with that.? Curry, who also snubbed lst year?s invitation, stated.
