MANILA, Philippines -- Filipino boxers Alan Vallespin, Eranio Semillano, Powell Balaba, Aljun Pelesio and Gringo Navarro scored wins at the entertaining evening of boxing staged Saturday night (May 19) at Elorde Sports Complex in Paranaque, Metro Manila

In the most exciting clash, Bacolod Super featherweight Alan Vallespin ravaged the mid-section of Warren Mansubuang of the Tiger City Gym, rocking him down to the canvas in round 1 and then badly in round 5 to claim a devastating knock out victory over the strong Mansubuang.

It was in rough action of round five that ref Jerrold Tomeldan administered the 10-second count to Mansubuang who was on the floor unable to get up. Official time of the effective KO was 1:51 in round five.

Eranio Semillano (C) won a tactical fight over Wilbert Berondo.

In the most tactical battle of the evening, the more talented Eranio Semillano outclassed with superior boxing skills Wilbert Berondo of the Johnny Elorde Boxing Stable to score a 12-round unanimous decision win, giving Berondo a boxing lesson in counter-punching. With the well-deserved win, Semillano retains his Filipino GAB Super Flyweight Belt and is ready for more.

Powell Balaba (2nd from left) wins.

In addition, super fly Powell Balaba of the paradise Island of Bohol won a close split-decision over Romshane Sarguilla, a fighter of the Lady C. Elorde Boxing Stable. Balaba was deducted a point in round three for an apparent intentional low-blow, nevertheless, he managed to narrowly win the 6-rounder.

Pelesio wins by KO in round 1. A rough body shot ravaged his opponent Rico Yagno.

In the fastest rumble of the exciting evening, the taller Aljun Pelisio brutalized Rico Yagno of Batangas with a fast, destructive attack to the body that gassed out the much shorter Yagno, leaving him helpless hanging on the ropes in obvious pain. The Official Time was 56 seconds in round 1.

The opening bout featured the round 2 TKO win of Jr. Flyweight Gringo Navarro of the Sparta Gym over John Mark Vecino of the Gono Boxing Stable in port city of Batangas.

The boxing event Saturday night in Manila was a production of Elorde International Promotions of man of boxing Gabriel "Bebot" Elorde Jr., winner of this year's WBC Honorary Asian Promoter of the Year Award.
