
Amateur Boxing Results from Bogo, Cebu

Fight fans in the City of Bogo in northern Cebu Province not only got thrilled with international pro boxing this past Saturday, but they also had the golden chance to witness ten competitive battles from the amateur ranks, clashes that showcased the boxing stars of the future.
The amateur fights began at 4:30 PM on April 7 at the Celestino Martinez Sr. Sports & Cultural Complex in Bogo City, and were brought to the fans as result of the tireless effort of matchmaker Edcel Mike Tunacao in cooperation with the City of Bogo.
The results are as follows:
1. In the 47 Kilos, Jerry Ambrad of Medellin scored an exciting RSC win over John Paul Irenea of Mandaue. Time was 1:15 in round 2.
2. Jeric Noynay of Medellin won a unanimous decision over tough Jason Alfornon of Tuburan in the 48 kilos.
3. In another exciting clash, John Mar Malbas of Tuburan outpointed local Bogo fighter Jimboy Damayo in the 50 kilos weight.
4. Also, in the 50 kilos, Mandaue fighter Jim Paul Dignos decisioned Jeffrey Rondina of the nearby City of Medellin.
5. Another tough-as-nails Medellin boxer, Benjun Lipon narrowly edged in a split verdict local favorite Eric Mahusay in the 47 kilos. It was one of the closest skirmishes of the card.
6. Bogo boxer Antonio Calcueva stopped Rhio Montebon of Tubura via RSC in round 2. This was in the 52 kilos.
7. Moreover, in the 58 kilos, Joedel Talle of Bogo won over brave Mandaue fighter JC Betatche in round 3.
8. In the heaviest boxers of the card with a poundage of 60 kilos, George Medillo of Medellin stopped local warrior Jerry Boy Lumongsud.
9. In the 58 kilos, the aggressive Romy Blasa of Tuburan scored a decisive RSC over brave Bogo boxer Jason Lipon. Time was 1:58 of round 2.
10. Finally, in the special attraction, Jhon Rey Seviulno of Medellin stopped via RSC Norwen Negre of the Port City of Hagnaya in Northwestern Cebu Province. Time was 1:11 of round 2.
All amateur boxers deserved a round of applause for their valor and willingness to compete in a very tough, demanding sport.
