
STCAA champion Quizon, Concio banner Dasmarinas, Cavite chess squad

Daniel Quizon, 13-years-old and Michael Concio Jr., 12-years-old, both Fide Master elect, lead the Barzaga Dasmarinas, Cavite chess team when the unique team format of the first-ever Philippine Chess Blitz Online Face Off Series will resume on February 18, 2018, Sunday at the Alabang Hills Village, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
Quizon and Concio, who both represent the Dasmarinas, Cavite high school chess team, bagged the gold medal and championships trophy in the just ended 2018 Southern Tagalog Calabarzon Athletic Association (STCAA) Meet on Wednesday (February 14, 2018) at the Laguna State Polytechnic University (San Pablo campus) in San Pablo, Laguna.
Quizon and Concio, also lift team Philippines into over-all championships in last year's 18th ASEAN Age Group Chess Championship being held at the Grand Darul Makmur Hotel in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia.
Quizon and Concio, both top players of the Dasmarinas Chess Academy put up by mayor Elpidio "Pidi" Barzaga Jr. and congresswoman Jenny Barzaga, will join forces with their coaches FM Roel Abelgas and FM David Elorta go up against reigning National Collegiate Athletic Association Chess Champions the San Beda Red Lions bannered by Kevin Arquero, Prince Aquino, NM Marc Nazario and FM Mari Joseph Turqueza in the first-ever Philippine Chess Blitz Online Face Off Series blitz chess format.
"The City of Dasmari?as may have an all FM line-up but the Bedans are champions and Kevin and Prince, though untitled, are as lethal in blitz as their titled counterparts. Who do you think will win this marquee match-up? Watch the match unfold this Sunday in my YouTube channel," said tournament organizer Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) founding president Atty. Cliburn Anthony A. Orbe.
"All blitz chess format game simultaneously can be watch live and replay at YouTube Cliburn Anthony Orbe's channel," added Atty. Orbe, treasurer of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).
