P130T AT STAKE IN ALPHALAND NATIONAL EXECUTIVE CHESS GRAND FINALS

CLOSE to P130,000 in cash prize will be given away to the winners of the 2018 Alphaland National Executive Chess Championships Grand Finals on November 2018.

This was bared yesterday by Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) founding president Atty. Cliburn Anthony A. Orbe and Press Relation Officer (PRO) Dr. Alfredo Paez.

The 64-member cast of the Grand Finals patterned after the World Cup will undergo 6 cycles or rounds of elimination before 8 players will receive a bonanza of cash dividends
in the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) sanctioned tournament and tie up with Kasparov Chess Foundation Asia Pacific.

The Grand Champion will receive a beautiful trophy and the champion's purse of P50,000.

The 2nd placer or losing finalist will receive a handsome trophy & a cash prize of P30,000.

The 2 losing semifinalist will vie for the 3rd & 4th place with the third placer winning a splendid trophy & P20,000.

The 4th placer will receive a shining medal & a P10,000 cash. The 4 quarterfinalists will each receive a glossy medal & a P5,000 cash.

"For the rest of the Grand Finalists who are not lucky this time, they will receive written citations & a million thanks from PECA for their wonderful participation in our event which further strenghten the goodwill & camaraderie towards a great chess explosion among our country's Executive ranks which serves as the pillar of the Philippines' fine chess tradition," added Atty. Cliburn Anthony A. Orbe, also the treasurer of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).

"The competition is open to company executives, career officers, businessmen and professionals," last word of Atty. Orbe.

Seven-Times Philippine Executive Champion Dr. Jenny Mayor and 1st leg champion engineer Benjamin "Benjie" Esquejo will head the list of cast when the 2nd leg of 2018 Alphaland National Executive Chess Championships gets underway on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the Activity Hall of Alphaland Makati Place, Ayala Avenue in Makati City.

Mayor, who has been inactive since winning the Philippines Executive Chess championships seven times, made himself available for the tournament.

"Matagal-tagal na din tayo hindi nakapaglalaro ng chess dahil busy ako sa family business sa Romblon at sa Quiapo,? said Mayor, who is a dentist by profession.

Joining Mayor and Esquejo are Dr. Alfred Paez, Dr. Angelo Subida, Atty. Rodrigo Artuz , IT Manager Edwin Sison of Vital C Health Products, Inc., Dioniver Medrano of SSS, Sales Director Samivin V. Delos Santos of SM Development Corporation , IT expert Joselito Cada, Jason Rojo and Joselito Asi of DepEd, Laurence "Larry" Dumadag of Unesco, Makati Hope Christian School head chess coach Marguel Soria, businessmen Noel Garcia, Jun Rivera, Lester Bacay, Niel Dumlao, Emil Colindres and Jun Rivera.
