
DAVAO BET LITERATUS WINS BLITZ CHESS

DAVAO City pride Fide Master (FM) Austin Jacob Literatus reinforced his position as one of the Philippines? top chess players when he ruled the Samways2riches blitz chess tournament held at the St. Joseph Subdivision, Cainta, Rizal, Friday night, February 9, 2018.
The top player of multi-titled National University (NU) chess team Literatus, playing under the guidance of sportsman Samson Go and United States Chess Federation (USCF) master NU head coach Jose "Jojo" Aquino, collected 8.5 points on eight wins, one loss and a draw to win the ten-round tournament hosted by engineer Benjamin "Benjie" Esquejo in close cooperation with SMDC Sales Director Samivin V. de Los Santos, well known chess coach/trainer Primma Sassy Belle Corporation regional sales coordinator Rosulo Vigilia Cabusora Jr., J-Store, Mayor Dental Clinic, The Chess Library, Arturo Turbanada, 1996 Philippine Junior champion National Master Roberto Suelo Jr., Jaime Tiburcio, Olympian member Woman National Master Cristina Santos, Dra. Jenica Anna Marie Josue and OFW engineer Joseph Galindo.
Lawrence Magura, another NU bet, meantime finished runer-up honors with 8.0 points followed by third placer San Beda ace Prince Mark Aquino who tallied 7.0 points.
Rey Lapid Chicharon and Barbecue chess team top player Genghis Katipunan Imperial and Adamson University Jerome Villanueva finish tied for 4th to 5th spots with 6.0 points each.
Other notable players who joined the said blitz chessfest that includes Makati Hope Christian school head chess coach Marguel Soria, NU player Neil Conrad Pondoc, Adamson University player Alji Bollozos Cantonjos, chess expert Jason Rojo, USCF chess master head coach Jose "Jojo" Aquino and engineer Benjamin "Benjie" Esquejo.
