PSC-Pacquiao Amateur Boxing Cup Luzon Preliminary in Sorsogon Jan. 27-28

THE Luzon Preliminary of the 2018 PSC-Pacquiao Amateur Boxing Cup will be held on January 27 and 28 at the Sorsogon National High School in Sorsogon City.

Supervising tournament director Rogelio Fortaleza said the winners will advance into the Quarter Finals slated on February 24 and 25 in Lucena City.

The Luzon Semi-Finals will be on March 17 in Pangasinan while the Luzon Finals on April 7 in Baguio City.

The winners of the Luzon Championships will next see action in the National Championship Preliminaries set on April 14-15 in Mandaluyong City.

It will be followed by the National Quarter Finals on April 21-22 in Tagbilaran City and National Semi-Finals on April 28 in Tagum City.

The National Finals will go back to General Santos City on May 5.

The grassroots development program is sponsored by the Philippine Sports Commission in coordination with the officer of Sen. Emmanuel ?Manny? Pacquiao.

It formally opened also in Gensan last Dec. 16-17 with the Mindanao Preliminary held at the Robinson?s Place.

PSC Chairman William ?Butch? Ramirez said that cash incentives will also be given to the gold, silver and bronze medalists - P6,000, P4,000 and P2,000.

?The outstanding boxers will also be joining join the national training pool in Baguio City,? said Ramirez.

This nationwide competition is open to all amateur boxing clubs, organizations, teams and local government units.

The categories in the Junior Boys and Girls Division (15 to 16 yrs. Old are the Pinweight (44-46 kg.), Light flyweight (48 kg.), Flyweight (50 kg.), Light Bantamweight (52 kg.) and Bantamweight (54 kg.) while in Youth Boys (17-18 yrs. Old) are Light flyweight (46-49 kg.), Flyweight (52 kg.), Bantamweight (56 kg.), Lightweight (60 kg.) and Light Welterweight (64 kg.)

The Youth Girls (17-18) only has four weight categories ? Light Flyweight (45-48 kg.), Flyweight (52 kg.), Bantamweight (54 kg.) and Featherweight (57 kg.).
