
IM DIMAKILING WINS KL CHESSFEST; IM PASCUA SETTLES FOR 2ND OVERALL

Filipino International Master (IM) Oliver Dimakiling pocketed the top honors in the 2nd KIMMA Open Chess Championship 2018 held at the Belakang Haniffa Departmental Store in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Sunday.
The Davao City native Dimakiling collected seven points in seven outings.
Dimakiling scored victories over Siti (WC) Safura Jaafar of Malaysia in the first round, Teh Wee Zhun of Malaysia in the second, Yusof Kamaluddin in the third, FM Zhuo Ren Lim of Malaysia in the fourth, IM Mas Hafizulhelmi of Malaysia in the fifth, IM Mok Tze-Meng of Malaysia in the sixth and IM Yeoh Li Tian of Malaysia in the seventh and final round.
IM Haridas Pascua of the Philippines placed second overall with 6.5 points on sixth wins and a draw.
IM Mas Hafizulhelmi of Malaysia and FM Nelson Villanueva of the Philippines were tied at 3rd to 4th with 6.0 points each.
IM Yeoh Li Tian of Malaysia led the huge group of 5.5 points in the company of Ian Cris Udani of the Philippines, FM Zhuo Ren Lim, FM Sumant Subramaniam, Francis Tan, Evan Timothy Capel and Julian Navaratnam of Malaysia.
