CHICAGO -- Zach LaVine returned from an 11-month absence to score 14 points and help the Chicago Bulls nipped the Detroit Pistons, 107-105, at the United Center.

LaVine, who was recovering from a torn ACL, made 5-of-9 field goals. While his point production was modest, LaVine got plenty of help to get the job done.

Lauri Markannen led Chicago with 19 points, Nikola Mirotic had 16 points while Bobby Portis contributed 15. The Bulls shot 48.3 percent from the field and sank 17 of 36 triples to improve to 16-27 for the season and 10-11 at their home floor.

Bulls point guard Kris Dunn was especially brilliant with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists.

Detroit made 41 of 92 field goals and 12 of 29 threes. The Pistons also got 21 points and 15 rebounds from Andre DRummond and 26 points from Avery Bradley but it wasn't enough as the Pistons fell to 22-19 for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.
