Previously unbeaten featherweight, Harmonito Dela Torre (19-0, 12 KO) of General Santos City suffered the first loss of his young career against an unbeaten former Olympian from Mongolia- Tugstsogt Nyambayar (9-0, 8 KOs) via an eight round Unanimous Decision in Las Vegas, Nevada Saturday night.

The battle of the two bright prospects in the 126 pound class produced an exciting TV scrap that was beamed live from The Cosmopolitan Casino by Bounce TV in the United States.

The more experienced fighter in Dela Torre made his mark early with his strong right hand in the opener and scored with a huge knockdown in the second against his opponent.

Nyambayar, who was a silver medalist in the 2012 London Games, rebounded with a strong showing in the third, rocking Dela Torre with two big rights after a spirited exchange between the two fighters.

In the 4th, the Mongolian fighter found more success in his game by landing effective jabs and hard combinations against the Filipino slugger. He inflicted a cut on the right eye of Dela Torre in the fifth and bloodied it by the end of the round.

Dela Torre?s cut was managed by his coach, Rodel Mayol during the lull and the Filipino was back in fighting form by the 6th. He started the round by landing a right hand early but Nyambayar was able to counter him effectively when he lunge in to attack. The Mongolian scored beautiful 1-2 combinations that pushed back Dela Torre.

Nyambayar, who now trains in Los Angeles, sealed his win with a strong showing in the last two rounds of their eight round fight. He whacked his opponent hard in the seventh, dislodging Dela Torre?s mouthpiece in the process.

The eight round was the icing in the cake for the now 9-0 fighter who hammered Dela Torre with huge right hands.

Bloodied and dazed, Dela Torre remained and finished the fight on his feet despite the onslaught by Nyambayar who wanted to add him in his KO resume.

Dela Torre endured his first professional loss via scores of 79-73 and two scores of 78-73 and dropped his record to 19-1.

According to his manager, Jim Claude Mananquil, Dela Torre received stitches for his cut after the fight and he was rushed to a nearby hospital for preventive reasons after his tough fight with Nyambayar.
