SULAIMAN IN 55th OPBF CONVENTION IN PALAWAN

WORLD Boxing Council (WBC) President Mauricio Sulaiman is attending the 55th Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Annual Convention on November 9 to 12 at the Princesa Garden Island Resort and Spa in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
This was confirmed by international boxing promoter Brico Santig of the Highland Boxing Promotion, who is promoting the boxing card of the OPBF Convention on Nov. 10 at the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum.
Santig is co-promoting it with Ryuta Kato of United Boxing Promotion from Japan. The boxing event, which will feature four OPBF championship bouts is also supported by Thailand?s Professional Boxing Commissioner Naris Singwancha.
Sulaiman, who also attended last year?s OPBF Convention held in Bacolod City, will give the welcome address after the opening remarks of OPBF president Abraham Kahlil Mitra, also chairman of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) in the opening day on Nov. 9.
GAB was recently awarded the Best Commission during the 55th WBC Annual Convention held Oct. 1-6 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The other events in Day 1 will be the registration of participants, licensing of OPBF members, issuance of IDs, distribution of convention kits, weigh-in, rules meeting, OPBF Executive Meeting, recognition of OPBF-member countries and representatives, Gala dinner and awards and cultural show by the Puerto Princesa Banwa Dance and Arts.
On Day 2 (Nov. 10) will be the seminars for judges, referees and medical aspect from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the boxing event starting at 4:30 p.m.
The resource speakers are Steve Weisfeld of New Jersey, Hubert Minn of Hawaii, Gene Del Bianco and Dr. Radentor Viernes of GAB.
On Day 3 (Nov. 11) is a tour to the world famous Underground River of Palawan followed by a city parade, while the closing ceremony and distribution of certificates of attendance is on Day 4 (Nov. 12).
