Featherweight Michael Farenas made an impressive US debut scoring a second round TKO victory over Mexican Arturo Valenzuela in the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao- Marco Antonio Barrera rematch in Las Vegas.
The 23 year old southpaw who is a prot?g? of WBO bantamweight champion Gerry Penalosa dropped Valenzuela with a cracking left in the first round and had him at the receiving end in the second when the referee decided to call a halt at :58 seconds of the second round of a six round bout.
The referee signals the end of the contest as Valenzuela (R) were repeatedly tagged by Farenas (L). Photo by Chris Cozzone / FightNews.com.
With the win Farenas improved to 18-2-2 with 16 knockouts while Valenzuela dropped to 19-9-1 with 17 knockouts.
The Mexican who is known as a KO artist was coming off a second round knockout of undefeated Alfredo Montano last September 3 but he had no answer to the aggression and power of Farenas.
