
THREE MORE FILIPINO BOXERS MAULED IN THAILAND

In what must be considered a continuing travesty committed by the Games and Amusements Board headed by chairman Eric Buhain, three more Filipino boxers have been mauled in Mukdahan,
Thailand with two of them losing by early knockouts.
Veteran Celso Danggod was the only one to last the distance, losing a unanimous twelve round unanimous decision to Duangpetch Saengmorakot in a Pan Asia Boxing Association super flyweight title fight. The 31 year old Danggod who reportedly had a record of 34-24 with 10 knockouts lost to the 27 year old Thai southpaw whose record was a far superior 35-1-1 with 15 knockouts.
Rene Banares whose record was listed by boxrec.com as 5-8-1 with 1 KO was knocked out in the second round by veteran world champion Ratanachai Sor Vorapin whose record was 71-9 with 47 knockouts.
The third Filipino boxer to be badly beaten was Joan De Guia who suffered a third round KO at the hands of Sod Lookmongyagtoy who has a string of 21 Filipino victims in a record of 32-2 with 13 knockouts. De Guia was reportedly 4-5-2 with 0 knockouts.
While boxrec.com itself doesn?t guarantee the complete accuracy of its ring records the disparity is so great that questions continue to be asked as to why the GAB whose boxing division is headed by Dr. Nasser Cruz allows such blatant mis-matches especially after the public pronouncements by Buhain about stringent rules to prevent such mismatches especially in Thailand.
