Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya’s Sports and Entertainment Publications company has acquired the acknowledged "Bible of Boxing" Ring Magazine as well as KO magazine, World Boxing and Pro Wrestling Illustrated from Kappa Publishing Group Inc.,
The acquisition is considered another coup in the growing business enterprises of De La Hoya who has most of the big names in boxing under his care.
De La Hoya said "we have a very skilled and capable team at The Ring headed by publisher Stu Saks and editor-in-chief Nigel Collins and I have all the confidence that these magazines will not only continue to prosper , but in fact grow globally."
De La Hoya promised that the magazines will be held in "an editorial trust where they will be operating totally independent of any influence from me or others from the Golden Boy Companies as it relates to editorial direction or content."
The Golden Boy of boxing said that as a young kid growing up he was always waiting with anticipation to get the new issue of The Ring adding that "to be here now and actually own the title is truly a dream come true."
De La Hoya said "we encourage fight fans, fighters and promoters to rally together and continue on the impressive resurgence our beloved sport of boxing has experienced this year."
Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer said "this is the kind of asset you never really own but rather safeguard for the next generation.
