Golden Boy Promotions has okayed plans for super bantamweight Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista to return to the ring in Manila in a fight card being planned by Viva Entertainment in a tie-up with the Araneta Coliseum scheduled for early December.
Golden Boy Promotions vice president and international matchmaker Eric Gomez informed Michael Aldeguer who has assumed the mantle of his father, respected boxing patron Tony Aldeguer of the ALA Gym, that Bautista was free to fight in the planned Manila card which will signal the return of big-time pro boxing to the ?Mecca? of Philippine Sports and Entertainment.
Also scheduled to see action on the blockbuster card are hot prospect AJ ?Bazooka? Banal, who scored a smashing third round TKO over Jorge Cardenas, and Philippine bantamweight champion Michael Domingo, who dominated undefeated Oscar De La Hoya prospect Miguel Roman in a six round battle winning by a shutout. Roman had a record of 22-0 with 16 knockouts.
Internationally renowned matchmaker Samson Lewkowicz has been requested to find tough Mexican opponents for the three Filipinos.
Several other promising young fighters are being eyed to see action in the Big Dome fight card.
The event will mark the return of Bautista following his shocking first round KO at the hands of the menacing WBO super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon.
Celebrated trainer Freddie Roach is confident that if he wants to, Bautista can come back and become a much better fighter and a champion in the future.
