LOS ANGELES, CA ? Filipino boxing personalities Aljoe Jaro and Ben Delgado waited for a total of 76 years between them for their contributions to the growth of the sport they love to be recognized.

For Jaro, now 46, who has been a boxing manager, promoter and trainer rolled into one since 2000, and Delgado, 80, who?s been involved in sweet science in the same capacity since 1956, their long wait is worth it.

?It?s been a long wait, but it?s worth it,? the 46-year-old Jaro said of his award. It?s an honor to be one of the honorees and I dedicate this recognition to the country.?

Boxing hero and Senator Manny Pacquiao, upon learning of the awards to be accorded to his countrymen congratulated Jaro and Delgado, saying such recognition is proof that Filipinos are not only good in fighting but in managing and training fighters as well.

For producing a total nine world champions Aljoe and Mang Ben will be honored and their accomplishments recognized Sunday evening (Monday in Manila) along with one other Filipino, former world junior-welterweight titleholder Morris East, and 12 others by the People's Boxing Champion Marvel Awards (PBCMA) in an elaborate ceremony at the Venetian Banquet Hall in Las Vegas.

Jaro, an Ilonggo now based in Binangonan town in Rizal province, will be feted for managing, training and guiding Florante Condes, Sonny Boy Jaro, Bernabe Cocepcion, Denver Cuello and Thai Amnat Rueng Rueng to world titles in their respective divisions in their prime.

Condes won the International Boxing Federation mini-flyweight crown in 2007, Sonny Boy Jaro the world Boxing Council and RING Magazine flyweight belt in 2012, Concepcion the WBC Youth plum in 2015, Cuello the WBC Silver diadem in 2010 and Rueng Rueng the IBF 112-pound crown in 2013.

Mang Ben, as he is being fondly called by everyone in the local and international boxing community, earned the honor for training Filipino light-flyweight Rolando Pascua and bantamweight Bernie Torres, among others, to world titles in their divisions.

Mang Ben also swore to have trained, at one time or another, eight-division Manny Pacquiao on the way to the WBC flyweight crown. He was, too, in Pacquiao?s corner with Hall of Fame corner man Freddie Roach in winning the IBF super-bantamweight belt.

?Hindi lahat ng tao ay nagagawaran ng ganito kalaking karangalan mula sa isang pandaigdigang grupo gaya ng PBCMA. Maraming salamat. I will cherish this award for the rest of my life,? Mang Ben said.
