TIGHT SECURITY TO BE IMPLEMENTED AT PACQUIAO'S TRAINING CAMP

Expect security to be stricter starting today when Fighting Senator Manny Pacquio's preparation for his coming fight shifts to high gear at the Elorde Boxing Gym at the Telsta building inside the vast Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City.

That is because what was suspected as a mild cold contacted by the Pacman Thursday last week turned worse and cancelled, too,
his scheduled training regimen last Saturday, following similar cancellation Friday.

The soon-to-be 38-year-old was able to do his routine morning roadwork earlier that day, and, in fact, proceeded to the the gym later only to feel he was not ready for the more rigorous sparring schedule.

Wife Jinkee, bringing along two-year-old son Israel, was, in fact, in the gym expecting to watch her husband's training.

Chief trainer Freddie Roach clarified though there was nothing serious in the situation and there was nothing to worry about, adding stricter security measure, particularly in admitting spectators inside the training venue should be implemented.

"Lots or people are coming daily to watch Manny, bringing virus due to frequent climate change. Everybody get sick everyday," Roach noted.

"Today's cancellation of training is merely precautionary, precisely to avoid serious repercussion," Roach told this writer. "Manny waited to proceed with the remaining schedule but the training team were unanimous in deciding to forego the afternoon session."

Roach was referring to strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune and assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez, Nonoy Neri and Roger "Haplas" Fernandez, all members of the training team.

Roach and company assured, too, that the gains achieved in the past five weeks since he camp opened will not go to waste.

"Ang iniwasan lang namin ay lumala ang sipon at maka-apekto sa target namin. Nag-miting kami inside the dressing room and arrived with the decision," Buboy, for his part, said.

Roach said the week's schedule will be maintained starting today.
