The IBF light flyweight title fight between champion Ulises Solis of Mexico and the Philippines' Bert Batawang has been postponed.

Respected international promoter Sampson Lewkowicz received an email from Sean Gibbons saying “we are very sorry to inform you that Ulises Solis will be unable to perform on September 16th in a match scheduled against Bert Batawang. Solis is suffering from a shoulder injury that will disable his ability to fight.”

Gibbons said they hope to “make this event happen in the near future” even as he told Lewkowicz “we greatly appreciate your efforts to structure this match and the efforts of the Philippine organization that approved this bout.”

Well-known promoter Sammy Gello-ani said he was confident the title fight would eventually push through without too much delay because Batawang is now the mandatory challenger to Solis.

Solis recently retained his title with an eighth round KO win over Filipino Rodel Mayol who dropped the champion in the sixth round but failed to finish him off before Solis tagged him with a perfect right hook in the eighth round to end the fight.
