Apol Suico fights for the vacant WBC International flyweight title against South Africa’s Moruti “Baby Face” Mthalane in Durham, South Africa on September 16 in a fight card staged by well-known promoter Branco Milenkovic.

The WBC approved the bout for the vacant title after Monelisi Myekeni decided to relinquish his crown last June following a road accident.

Suico has a record of 10-1 with 6 knockouts while Mthalane is 19-1 with 13 knockouts.

Suico won his last fight by a unanimous decision over ten rounds against unheralded Jerry Manganip who had a record of 11 defeats as against only 2 wins according to boxrec.com. Prior to the June 23 win over Manganip, Suico suffered a second round TKO loss to Danilo Lerio.

Mthalane, on the other hand, has won four of his last fights by knockouts and the fifth when his opponent Zola Sifama retired in the fifth round last June 16.
