As a conclusion to our series of articles on the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, we look back at some of the memorable feats and the final medal standings.

Brazil's men's volleyball team beat mighty Italy for the host team's first Olympic title in 12 years since a gold medal in Athens in 2004.

Brazil finally captured its first ever Olympic gold medal in football, the sport they love most. Captain Neymar led his country to the historic first men's soccer title with the winning penalty in a 5-4 shootout victory over arch-rival Germany in an exciting final.

Usain Bolt led the Jamaican team to the gold in the 4 X 100-m relay. He has swept the 100-m, 200-m, and the relay in each of the three Olympics, 2008 in Beijing, 2012 in London, and now in 2016 in Rio, a feat called "triple triple."

United States trashed Serbia, 96-66 in the gold medal match in men's basketball. Team USA which was led by Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Paul George and all the rest, has won 52 consecutive games in FIBA tournaments including 24 in the Olympics.

American Simone Biles won a record-equalling four golds in team, all around, vault and floor exercise for a female gymnast at a single Olympics. She slipped her foot in the balance beam final and settled for the bronze in what would have been her fifth gold.

Michael Phelps became the first person to win the fourth consecutive Olympic gold in the 200-meter individual medley. He is now also the second-oldest swimmer to win gold in an individual race. His overall haul of 28 medals, including 23 golds, will be hard to surpass. Before Phelps' feat, the largest number of medals won by an Olympian was only 9.

The Philippines ended its 20-year medal drought when Hidilyn Diaz won the silver medal in the women's 53kg weightlifting. At height 4'11" she was able to snatch 1.66 times her weight and clean and jerk more than double her weight.
