
GILAS FILIPINAS ENTERS QUARTER FINALS OF FIBA ASIA UNDER 18 3x3 CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Gilas Filipinas men?s basketball team has entered the quarter finals of the FIBA Asia Championships played at th Gem-In shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia after victories over South Korea, Japan and Vietnam following a loss to Qatar in their opening game, by a 21-15 margin.
The Philippine team composed of Rhyann Amsali, John Lloyd Clemente, John Martin Galinato and Christian Tan routed South Korea 21-9, overcame Japan in a close contest 21-17 before dominating Vietnam 21-16 on the second day of competition in Cyberjaya, Malaysia.
The young Filipinos finished with a 3-1 record and will compete in the quarter finals and hopefully the semis and finals today.
However, the girls squad started on the wrong foot by losing to unheralded Sri Lanka in their opening game which was regarded as a major setback.
