After a disappointing, lopsided loss to Pakistan?s unbeaten Muhammad Waseem in a clash for the WBC flyweight Silver title, 30 year old Jether Oliva has decided to retire from boxing.
Oliva?s manager Jim Claude ?JC? Manangquil bared Oliva?s plans to retire after he spoke to him in Seoul last Tuesday and said ?he has had a good career. It's time to go out from this tough sport when he is still in good health.?
Oliva who recently married an elementary school teacher from Pagadian City, plans to transfer to General Santos City.
Manangquil said, ?he should enjoy life now. You can?t fight forever.?
Oliva ends his career with a record of 24-6-2 with 11 knockouts. He twice fought for the world title but lost although he had won four regional belts.
Oliva remarked ?My duty is done. This is where life begins.?
