ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer who was with Prince Albert Pagara at the Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, California has issued a statement in which he said ?Albert is fine. He just got discharged from the Emergency Room. The attending doctors advised he could fly back to the Philippines on Monday.
Aldeguer said ?all the tests, including CTScan, came back negative. The doctor also advised not to have Albert participate in any contact sports for at least two weeks.?
Pagara who dropped Mexico's Cesar Juarez with a classic left hook in the dying seconds of the first round, was battered by the rugged Juarez in the 7th round and dropped bu a four-punch flurry at the start of the 8th and was counted out as he lay prostrate on all fours at the start of the 8th round.
While pointing out it was ?unfortunate that Albert Pagara suffered his first career loss tonight. On a positive note were very grateful with the crowd turnout. We had exciting bouts from the first bout down to the main event and tickets were sold out.?
The youthful ALA Promotions president noted that ?overall it was a successful show ? achieving ALA Promotions, ABS-CBN Sports and The Filipino Channel?s thrust to stage world-class boxing events all over the world.?
Aldeguer said ?we are excited to do an ev en bigger show later this year at a bigger venue in StubHub Center in Los Angeles on September 24.?
The Standard understands that the longest reigning Filipino world champion Donnie Nietes will defend his WBO junior flyweight title against mandatory challenger Moises Fuentes or move up to flyweight to challenge WBO/WBA champion Juan Francisco Estrada.
Estrada won the title with a split decision over Brian Viloria on April 6, 2013 at the plush Cotai Arena in Macau and then subsequwntly defended the title successfully against Filipinos Milan Melindo, Richie Mepranum and Rommel Asenjo.
