THE official weigh-in of the Night of Champions III will be held on July 12 at 10 a.m. at The Forum along Federacion Drive in Taguig City.
The exciting boxing presentation is set on July 13 at 5 p.m. at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. The triple main-header is presented by the Elorde International Productions of Gabriel ?Bebot? Elorde Jr., son of the late legendary Gabriel ?Flash? Elorde.
It will mainly feature the championship fight for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Boxing Council super lightweight title between former WBC Youth World lightweight champion Jeffrey ?The Bull? Arienza of the Philippines and former Indonesia lightweight king William ?Fort? Reyk.
The other championship fights will have former WBC International bantamweight champion Silvester ?Silver? Lopez against ex-Philippine super flyweight champion Danilo ?Pitbull? Pena for the vacant WBC ABCO featherweight crown and defending champion Donny ?Mr. Shallow? Mabao against challenger Felipe ?Crunch Man? Cagobcob Jr. for the Philippine flyweight crown.
The 25-year old Arienza, who has a record of 14 wins with 8 knockouts against 4 loses and 1 draw, previously stopped Edsil Jungco in the third round last February 18 at the SM Mall of Asia.
Reyk (18 wins-13 loses-4 draws-5 KOs) also won his last fight on points against John Ruba last February 5 in Jakarta. The 30-year old Indonesian, however, fought but lost by a knockout to another Filipino Jay Solmiano for the interim WBO Asia Pacific super lightweight title.
Lopez, on the other hand, previously won by a unanimous decision against Jeson Berwela also at the MOA last May 4 while Pena won the Luzon Professional Boxing Association (Luzproba) featherweight crown via a technical decision against Rey Juntilla last July 11, 2015.
Pena, 34, however, suffered a string of bad luck with successive setbacks in his last three fights.
Meanwhile, 25-year old Cagubcob (5-2-5-1KO) knocked out Lowell Saguisa in the 2nd round last October 24 at The Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Complex.
Mabao (22-25-3-4KOs) captured the vacant Philippine flyweight crown via a majority decision against Michael Enriquez last February 20 in Taguig. But in his last fight, the 27-year old native from Bukidnon bowed to Colombian Pablo Carrillo by a UD in Osaka, Japan last April 17. - LITO DELOS REYES
