There?s been a terrific build-up to the World Boxing Council light flyweight championship showdown between Mexico?s champion Ganigan ?Maravilla" Lopez and the Philippines mandatory challenger Jonathan ?Lightning? Taconing who will clash Sunday, Manila Time, at the Arena Coliseo in Mexico City which has been branded ?a high risk duel for the monarch.?

Ganigan said he is reaching this fight with ?all attitude and desire to remain the world champion? saying ?It's a great satisfaction to be champion. On Saturday I will have a very tough defense but not impossible. We have full confidence that the green belt will stay in Mexico."

Meanwhile the Philippine?s Taconing said he is grateful to the promoters and the World Boxing Council for the opportunity to dispute the crown of the WBC.

The hard-hitting southpaw, who is five years younger than Ganigan at 29 said "I know it will be a great fight as long as Mexican fighters and Filipinos face, the more I will do my best to win this fight and take that belt to my country".

Both fighters came in within the light flyweight limit at the official weigh-in on Friday f the evening: Ganigan Lopez tipped the scales at 107 pounds while Taconing was a half pound heavier at 107.5 pounds
