NBA -- Some 1.3 million fans attend Cavs parade

CHICAGO -- An estimated crowd of 1.3 million braved the sweltering mid-June heat to attend the Cleveland Cavaliers' championship parade which snaked its way through the streets of Cleveland on Wednesday afternoon.
It was a fitting celebration of the Cavaliers's first-ever NBA title, ending Cleveland's 52-year thirst for a major sports title.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, fans climbed street poles, bus stops and other edifices to get a better view of the festivities. Early in the day, LeBron James, the team's ring leader, announced that he will return to Cleveland next season, ending speculation that he might bolt elsewhere and pursue free agency.
"Love it here," James told the Plain Dealer.
Winning the 2016 NBA title in dramatic fashion, the Cavaliers became the first team in NBA Finlas history to rally from a 3-1 deficit, stunning the defending world champions Golden State Warriors in seven games. James was named unanimously as the Finals MVP.
