Filipino promoter Gabriel ?Bebot? Elorde believes that his fighter Cris Alfante has power and in tip-top shape and is expected to ?go for broke and has a good chance to win? against unbeaten Australian Andrew Moloney at the Malvern Town Hall in Melbourne on July 2.
He said Alfante ?is a fighter and can punch? and had trained for over two months under the watchful eye of former OPBF champion William Develos.
Southpaw Alfante who has a record of 11-5-1 with 4 knockouts is coming off a ix round draw against unbeaten Japanese super flyweight Ryuto Maekawa (10-0) last November 7 after losing by a 4th round knockout to unbeaten Daigo Higa in a six round bout on June 8, 2015.
Higa who has a sterling record of 9 knockouts in 9 wins will battle Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation champion Ardin Diale of the Philippines on July 2. Diale has a record of 31-9-3 with 15 knockouts.
Andrew Moloney is 29 years old and sports a record of 7-0 with 4 knockouts. In his last fight Andrew scored a 2nd round TKO in a scheduled six round bout against Argentina?s Ricardo David Ocampo (9-7, 4 KO?s) on May 20 this year.
25 year old Virden ?Prince Warrior? Rivera has a record of 8-2-2 with 2 knockouts and will face 25 year old super bantamweight Jason Moloney who is unbeaten in 7 bouts with all seven coming by way of knockouts.
In his last fight Jason scored a 5th round TKO in a scheduled eight round bout over Argentina?s featherweight Matias Agustin Amagada.
Rivera, on the other hand figured in a majority draw against Eranio Semillano on October 24, 2015.
Multi-awarded promoter Peter Maniatis informed The Standard that Alfante comes highly recommended by Elorde and he believes it will be the biggest test so far for Andrew Moloney while Rivera, he said ?is a neat, stylish boxer.?
Maniatis revealed that Alfante was ready to bet his purse on his fight but Elorde believes it?s a ?gimmick? of promoter Peter Maniatis to stir up interest in the fight card.
