MAYOL DENIES HE HAS BEEN PAID

IBF light flyweight challenger Rodel Mayol hours ago sent Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today denying that he has been paid his purse after suffering a stunning eighth round knockout at the hands of champion Ulises Solis last Saturday in Chicago.

The manager of Bernabe Concepcion who won the NABF title with a smashing fourth round KO of Gabriel Elizondo on the Erik Morales-David Diaz undercard, former boxer Aljoe Jaro claimed early Friday that both Mayol and Concepcion had been paid by check and that Michael Koncz who helped arrange his title fight with Top Rank promoter Bob Arum was having it cleared by the bank and preparing a statement of accounts on expenses incurred, tax payments etc.

However, in a brief email to this writer Mayol said "I am so sorry Sir but I have heard the news that I have been already paid as quoted in philboxing.com but then, until the time I am doing this email, I have not been paid yet."

Viva Sports will try to contact Aljoe Jaro first thing Saturday morning to confront him with Mayol's statement.

Aljoe Jaro himself has a problem after he signed agreements and contracts as manager of IBF minimum weight champion Florante Condes when, in fact, he has no contract as manager registered with the Games and Amusements Board. The only contract the GAB has is that of his wife who is registered as manager of Condes which opens up possible legal suits against Jaro for misrepresentation.
