Furukawa.

In a terrible mismatch approved by the Games and Amusements Board, Japan?s Masazumi Furukawa won the WBC Asia Silver flyweight championship with a 1st round knockout of Geboi ?Jimboy? Mansalayo of the Highland Boxing Gym at the Elementary School, Barangay Poblacion in Mandaluyong on Friday night.

The 40 year old Furukawa dropped Mansalayao twice with body shots before referee Virgilio Garcia counted out the Filipino who was grimacing in pain after a shot to the ribs sent him crashing to the canvas for the second time in the opening round.
The result was not unexpected as Mansalayao had a miserable record of 20 losses against only 10 wins with 4 draws and 4 wins by knockout while Furukawa had a record of 7-7-2 with 2 knockouts.

Furukawa who is known for his body shots had won his last fight also by a 1st round stoppage against Benjie Bartolome last March 18 in a fight card in Bagumbayan, Taguig.

Bartolome, like Mansalayao was from the Highland Boxing Gym and had an equally poor record of 2 wins, 8 losses and 1 draw.
Before the title fight Furukawa had predicted he would win by a second or third round KO win but it came even earlier as Mansalayao was an opponent who offered no resistance.
