REIGNING Philippine super lightweight champion Adones Cabalquinto is eyeing for a knockout win against Philippine Boxing Federation super lightweight king Rodel Wenceslao in their non-title fight in the main event of the Blow by Blow Reloaded on June 4 at the Almendras gym in Davao City.
This was bared by Cabalquinto last Tuesday at the weekly SCOOP Session of The Royal Mandaya Hotel.
?Nindot ni na away. Wala nako nakita iyang dula pero sa tan aw nako kaya nako siya patumbahon,? (This is a good fight. I have not seen his fight but I think I can knockout him) said Cabalquinto, who holds a record of 21 wins with 15 knockouts against one loss and no draw.
Cabalquinto, a former WBC Asian Boxing Council super lightweight champion, is fresh from a first round knockout win against Nelson ?Mr. Fantastic? Gulpe last February 13 in Buluan, Maguindanao.
Cabalaquinto?s present condition is now okay according to his chief trainer Raides ?Nonoy? Neri of MP Davao Gym.
?Kung pwede niya i-knockout mao dyud na among plano pero dili lang mag kumpiyansa,? (If we can knockout him ?coz that is our plan but we just don?t be complacent) said Neri.
Wenceslao has improved a lot in his past fights according to Neri. Wenceslao has also scored a first round knockout victory in his previous outing against Kun Wang last April 11 in Jinghong, China.
The 23-year old Wenceslao earlier captured the PBF super lightweight title via a majority decision against Weng Haya last September 12, 2015 at Sabang Gym in Danao City.
Wenceslao has won all his last three fights which started with a second round technical knockout against Takamori Akita of Japan last April 25, 2015 in Mandaue City.
Meanwhile, two undefeated fighters from the MP Davao Stable ? Interim WBO Oriental lightweight title-holder Jay-ar ?Hitman? Inson (10-0-0-7KOs) and Genesis ?Cobra? Libranza (9-0-0-6KOs) are also featured in the undercard.
Inson of Davao City will fight former WBC Asian Boxing Council super bantamweight champion Richard Betos (20-14-1-7KO) of Barobo, Surigao while Libranza takes on Jetly Purisima (21-18-4-6KO) of General Santos City in the undercard.
The Blow by Blow Reloaded is a production owned by Senator-elect Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao which is shown every Sunday on ABC TV 5.
?Libre pa rin ito sa lahat ng boxing fans,? said Neri. - LITO DELOS REYES
