Prince Albert Pagara is now in Los Angeles, California preparing for his tussle with Cesar Juarez this coming July 9. I messaged my favorite boxer and wished him all the luck in one of his most challenging fights. He thanked me and vowed to give his best to bring honor to the country.

Pagara is training under strength and conditioning coach Nick Curson who also trains UFC light welterweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos at the Wild Card Gym. Curson is also the trainer of Russian Ruslan Provodnikov, ex-WBO light welterweight champion. A convincing victory over Juarez will enable Pagara to be next in line for a world title shot.

The Cleveland Cavaliers clinched the NBA Eastern Conference title by defeating the Totonto Raptors, 113-87 in Game 6 of their best-of-7 series. It was LeBron James' sixth straight trip to the Finals, two for the Cavs and four for the Miami Heat. While the defending champions Golden State Warriors were still behind 2-3 in the Western Conference finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The general sentiment is for Cleveland to engage in a rematch with Golden State in the Finals. This time with a healthy Big Three. Last year, Kevin Love had a dislocated left shoulder and was not able to play in the Finals. While Kyrie Irving suffered a knee injury in Game 1 of the Finals and never finished the championhip series leaving James almost single-handedly carried the load for the Cavs.

Congratulations John Riel Casimero for becoming a world champion again. The Pride of Ormoc City won the IBF world flyweight title over previously unbeaten Amnat Ruenroeng of Thailand by KO in the 4th round. We were together with Casimero during the Palarong Pambansa 2006 in Naga City, Camarines Sur. He won the gold medal in boxing for the Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association. That time I accompanied the athletes from Maasin City.

As an amateur boxer, Casimero excelled in local and national competitions. He fought in Eastern Visayas, including the cities of Tacloban and Maasin. He also conquered other regions and notched win after win in an extraordinary display of boxing skills. During his prime as an amateur boxer, Ormoc City was a dominant power in amateur boxing in this part of the country.
