PACQUIAO IS ON THE PLANE TO LA!

Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao has finally left Manila tonight for Los Angeles to begin his training for the Barrera fight, Pacquiao's confidant Rex "Wakee" Salud has informed PhilBoxing.com.

Pacquiao was being accompanied by his trainer Buboy Fernandez. The duo are expected to land in LA Tuesday evening.

Pacquiao has postponed his departure for the US at least four times, in the process forcing the cancellation of the scheduled press conference of his upcoming fight with Barrera at the plush Beverly Hills hotel jointly organized by Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank.

Salud earlier told PhilBoxing.com that he would fly to Manila today to convince Pacquiao to take tonight's flight to LA. According to Pacquiao's wishes Salud and lawyer Jeng Gacal were supposed to also fly to LA tonight but they only got two confirmed seats -- that of Pacquiao and Salud so Salud had given his seat to Fernandez instead.

The Pacquiao-Barrera rematch is one of the most awaited fights in boxing in the last four years after Pacquiao demolished the Mexican legend Barrera in their Nov. 15, 2003 encounter.
