The International Boxing Federation has announced that Filipino challenger John Reil Casimero and world champion Amnat Ruenroeng have both weighed in at the flyweight limit of 112 pounds for their rematch which will take place on Wednesday evening in Beijing, China as one of the highlights highlights of the IBF Annual Convention.
However, there appeared to be a snafu as reported by Bob Newman on Fight News as the official weigh-in was supposed to take place at the hotel.
IBF president Daryl Peoples explained what happened.
He said ?The Great Wall weigh-in was supposed to be a mock weigh-in with Mike Tyson there as an attraction. The ?real? weigh-ins were supposed to be at the hotel. The press was supposed to be told about this but wasn?t.?
There was some concern about Casimero making the weight since he was some 4 to 5 pounds after his final work out at the gym of Dr. Rajan Yraola but both co-promoter Sammy Gello-ani, Yraola as well as trainer Jhun Agrabio and Casimero himself said they didn?t forsee any problems making the weight.
The rematch was ordered by the IBF following the controversial handling of their first fight by referee Larry Doggett who failed o call several infractions by Ruenroeng including two takedowns in a foul-infested bout.
