
BREAKING NEWS: GORRES CLEARED TO FIGHT IN WORLD CUP!

Just moments ago, PhilBoxing.com has learned that Z "The Dream" Gorres has been cleared to fight in the World Cup this Saturday. In a text message to his father Antonio, Michael Aldeguer, who was with Gorres at the clinic of Dr. Steinschriber, has informed that the eye specialist has given the go signal for Gorres to fight this Saturday since Gorres' injury has completely healed.
The Boxing World Cup: Philippines vs Mexico is scheduled this Aug. 11 at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, CA, with two title bouts and five non-title bouts best of seven faceoff between the Philippines and Mexico.
Mexican world champions Daniel Ponce de Leon and Jhonny Gonzales will defend their titles against Rey Bautista and Gerry Pe?alosa of the Philippines respectively. Other pairings are between Bert Batawang (PHI) vs Gerardo Verde (MEX), Michael Domingo (PHI) vs Miguel Roman (MEX), Diosdao Gabi (PHI) vs Jose Angel Beranza (MEX), AJ Banal (PHI) vs Eric Ortiz (MEX) and Z Gorres (PHI) vs Gerson Guerrero (MEX).
Gorres' participation was earlier in doubt after a routine medical checkup last week had found a minor tear in Gorres' retina. After being examined by eye specialist Dr. Steinschriber, Gorres had been advised to return to Dr. Steinschriber's clinic today for a final clearance.
Team Philippines was scheduled to fly to Sacramento from Los Angeles today.
