Espinas.

Two Filipino boxers from the stable of promoter Sammy Gello-ani have scored big wins at the Bazar Hotel Grounds in Bangkok, Thailand.

Reigning WBO Oriental junior flyweight champion Jessie Espinas won impressively over Tommy Seran of Indonesia who was dropped in the closing seconds of the fourth round and decided not to come out for round five giving Espinas a TKO victory in a scheduled ten-round non title bout.

Seran had lost by a 5th round knockout to Tepporith Kokietgym who improved his record to 34-3 with 21 knockouts in a twelve round bantamweight bout last March 27.

Espinas who is 23 years old improved his record to 14-2 with 10 knockouts.

He won the WBO Oriental title last Februarey 26 with a stunning 8th round TKO over previously unbeaten and top-rated Thai, Paipharob Kokietgym who dropped to 32-1 with 25 knockouts.

Featherweight Jessie Cris Rosales bucked a cut caused by a head-butt early in the fight to score an impressive ten round decision over Ibuki Tanaka of Japan to take his unbeaten record to 20-0-1 with 8 knockouts.

The 24 year old Rosales was coming off a spectacular 1st round knockout of Jilo Merlin to win the Philippine Boxing Federation featherweight crown last March 9.

Tanaka, 31, dropped to 3-4 with 3 knockouts.

Gello-ani told The Standard that the well-known Kokiet Group of Companies who promoted the fights on the undercard of a WBC International championship bout is reviving the partnership with Gello-ani?s SGG Sports Promotions to help promising Filipino fighters.

Gello-ani told us that as agreed the next schedule of Espinas will be on July 8 with a title involved in order to help improve his world ratings while Rosales will figure in a featherweight championship bout on June 30.
