JUST LIKE EVERYTIME HE FIGHTS IN THE RING, PACQUIAO URGES PINOYS TO UNITE DURING MONDAY'S ELECTIONS

The man perceived by many to have the capability to unite his long-suffering countrymen, fighting Sarangani Congressman and senatorial hopeful Manny Pacquiao, called on all Filipinos to once again act as one and vote for the right candidates on Monday's general elections.

"For all of us and our country's future, let us unite one more time like you've shown every time I fight, and vote for the candidates you believe will bring us the kind of life we've been praying for," Pacquiao told this writer by way of imparting a message to Filipino electorates.

The 37-year-old was, of course, referring to the support given him by his countrymen, who in the past decade or so has held the entire Philippines at standstill each time he climbed atop the squared ring opposing a rival on the way to becoming the only man in the history of sweet science to win 10 world titles in eight weight divisions.

"In the past 10 years, lahat halos ng ating mga kababayan ay tumitigil sa kanilang ginagawa para mapanood ang aking mga laban, praying for my victory which, most of the time, happened , sa awa ng Maykapal, para mabigyan ko sila ng kasiyahan, pag-asa that despite their poor situation in life, there's a light at the end of the tunnel." the reigning 'Fighter of the Decade' said.

"Sabi nila, everytime I fight, the crime situation in the country comes to almost zero, nil, nada. The rebels, both the NPAs and Muslims, ay bumababa sa kapatagan para samahan ang mga sibilyan na manood ang aking laban maging sa mga liwasan o sa iisang bubong man," Pacquiao recalled.

"It really is an honor for me na nagagawa kong pag-isahin ang buong bansa in my own small way. Nakatataba ng puso," he remarked. "My only hope sana is to translate ang pagtitiwalang ito ng mga Pilipino sa darating na halalan. Nagawa natin noon, bakit hindi natin magagawa ngayon?"

"This coming elections, as our people themselves have been saying, is about our future. I agree, kaya nga nananawagan ako sa kanila na pag-aralang mabuti kung sino ang iboboto," the former world flyweight, super-bantamweight. featherweight, super-featherweight, lightweight, junior-welterweight, welterweight and super-welterweight champion suggested.

"What the country needs are officials who have concrete and solid programs with the end in view of improving the life of our people. Let's avoid candidates who resort to mudslinging and character assassination," Pacquiao said.

"Walang gagawing mabuti ang ganitong klaseng tao. Ibinoto na natin sila noon at nalubog na tayo nang nalubog sa kinalalagyan natin ngayon. " Pacquiao reminisced. "I hope we've learned our lessons."

"Let's unite one more time now, not after the elections when everything is already lost because we have voted the wrong people that will chart the future of our country. Magkaisa na tayong lahat ngayon bago mahuli na ang lahat," he exclaimed.
