BANGKOK, Thailand ? Current World Boxing Council (WBC) Asian Boxing Council Continental light flyweight champion Pongsaklet ?Naforluang? Sithdabnij of Thailand only needed one solid right jab to retain his title via a shocking first round knockout against his Indonesian challenger Demsi ?Toncer? Manufoe today (April 8) in Patumtani Province.

The 24-year old Sithdabnij first eluded a right straight by Manufoe before unleashing his solid right that landed on the ribs with still more than two minutes left in the opening round.

Manufoefell down on the canvas for a few minutes but later stood up to congratulate his Thai opponent.

?He is good and smart. I was hurt bad,? said Manufoe in a post-fight interview.

It was the first title-defense of Sithdabnij, who captured the crown by stopping Iwan Key by a technical knockout last December 18 at the Ratchaprachasamasai School in Phra Pradaeng.

Sithdabnij improved his record to 8 wins with 7 knockots against 3 loses and 1 draw while Manufoe suffered his 5th loss against 9 wins and no draw.

Manufoe, 24, also previously lost by a knockout to Richard Claveras of the Philippines in their title-fight for the WBC Asian Boxing Council light flyweight crown last January 31, 2015 in Manila.

Meanwhile, WBC Silver super flyweight champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand came back strong in the final round with smashing left-right combinations to win by a 6th round technical knockout against another Indonesian Ichal Tobida earlier in a non-title fight curtain raiser.

Tobida dominated the first five rounds by keeping Rungvisai at bay with his stinging jabs. In fact, Tobida was clearly leading in the judges? score sheets after five rounds.

But the 29-year old Rungvisai suddenly bombarded Tobida with powerful combinations that forced the Indonesian to ran away until the referee stopped the fight.

Rungvisai improved his record to 39W-4L-1D-36 KOs) while the 31-year old Tobida dropped to 12W-20L-D-8 Kos.

The exciting fights, which were telecast lived on national TV was promoted by the Naforluang Promotions under boxing promoter Pisitwuttinan Suchat in coordination with Brico Santig of the Philippines. ? LITO DELOS REYES
