Eye specialist Dr. Arnold Salud of the American Eye Center says Z “The Dream” Gorres can fight again for sure.
In a telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today Dr. Salud, the son of WBC founding secretary general Rudy Salud said the slight tear was not the same as a detached retina adding that “if they can control the tear there will be no detachment and he can fight again.”
Dr. Salud who is considered one of the outstanding and youthful eye specialists in the country who trained abroad cited the condition of former great Sugar Ray Leonard who underwent surgery for a detached retina in the left eye and came out of retirement to fight again and score a controversial decision over southpaw Marvin Hagler.
Dr. Salud advised Gorres not to be depressed because the problem could be handled and it should not affect his career, especially since he us young. Gorres is scheduled to see an eye specialist in Los Angeles at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow.
