BOXING promoter-manager Brico Santig of Baguio City was awarded the 2015 Promoter of the Year for the Asia Pacific Region by the prestigious World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia Boxing Council.

Santig of the Highland Boxing Promotions received his award from no less than WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman and WBC Asian Boxing Council President Gen. Kovid Bhakdibhumi last Sunday night at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club in Bangkok, Thailand.

Santig recently co-promoted the triple OPBF championships last April 1 in Bacolod City as part of the 3-day OPBF Convention.
?It?s truly an honor to be given with this award. I just want to help our boxers as well as co-promoters and managers,? said Santig, who is now also assisting the fellow promoters and managers of the other countries in Asia.

Santig has previously co-promoted the triple OPBF championships with Naris Singwangcha of Thailand in Bacolod.

Meanwhile, WBC ABCO flyweight champion Nawaphon Nakornluang and Nampetch Kwanjaisrikote both of Thailand were chosen as the Male and Female Boxers of the Year 2015, respectively while WBC ABCO super flyweight champion Hee Jung Yuh of South Korea is the Female Continental Champion of the Year.

Hee, 38, who previously knocked out Daojaras Sor Sisan last March 16 in Gwangmyeong, South Korea, was accompanied by her own husband and former WBC Asian Boxing Council (ABCO) super flyweight champion Young Gil Bae, who also got a medal for his own achievement together with the other outstanding Asian boxers.
She won the WBC ABCO super flyweight crown by a technical knockout win over Sriwilai Marasri last March 14, 2015 at the A.K. Sports Center, Chonburi, Thailand.

Surachart Pisitwuthinum and Kokjet Panichayarom were voted as the Promoters of the Year. The Best Youth Boxer is Petch So Chitpattana while Best Boxer is Wanheng Meenayothin.
