Palicte (C).

CURRENT WBO Oriental super flyweight champion Aston ?Mighty? Palicte of the Philippines will face dangerous Mexican fighter Junior Granados on March 12 in Merida, Mexico.

The 25-year old Palicte (20 wins-1 loss-0 draw-17 KOs) will be accompanied by his trainer Joven Jimenez according to his manager Jason Soong.

Palicte, who previously won his title via a unanimous decision against Vergilio Silvano last November 13 at the Philippine Navy Gym in Taguig City, has been training already at the Elorde Gym in Manila.

His sparring mate is Jerwin ?Pretty Boy? Ancajas from Davao City.

?Medyo delikado kasi magaling ang kalaban ni Aston,? said Jimenez.

The 23-year old Granados, who has a record of 14W-4L-1D-8KOs, is a former WBC Mundo Hispano flyweight champion. He also fought but lost for the WBO Inter-Continental super flyweight title by a UD to Jamie Conlan last July 4 in Dublin, Ireland.

Granados, however, bounced back by beating fellow Mexican Samuel Gutierrez by a majority decision last October 3 in Yucatan, Mexico.

Palicte?s fight with Granados was penciled by GAB-licensed matchmaker Robert Yanez of the JYT Boxing International.

Palicte?s only setback was when he lost by retirement to Romnick Magos in their championship fight for the vacant WBO Asia Pacific Youth flyweight title held at the Navy Gym last December 1, 2012.

Palicte, however, bounced back with nine straight wins all by knockout or technical knockout before he captured his current title.

From that impressive 9-0 winning streak, Palicte was able to capture the vacant IBF Youth super flyweight title by knocking out Detnarong Omkrathok of Thailand on January 31 t the USEP Gym in Davao City.

The native of Bago City, Negros Occidental then stopped Mexican Ismael Garnica by a TKO at the Cotai Arena, Venetian Resort in Macao on March 7. ? LITO DELOS REYES
