Power punching featherweight Jeo Santisima engaged hard-hitting Marco "Singwancha" Demecillo in a furious battle to the delight of fight fans at the jampacked Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu that more than compensated for the lackluster main event Saturday night.

It was a toe-to-toe battle from the opening bell as both fighters traded big shots with Demcillio catching Santisima with a perfectly timed uppercut in round two that stunned the 19 year old Ala boxer and dropped him onto the seat of his pants but Santisima fought back gallantly to hurt Demecillo.

The firefight continued in the next two rounds with Santisima and Demecillio trading vicious shots before Santisima connected with an overhand right and a left hook that shook the grizzled veteran Demecillio in the dying seconds of the 5th round.

Santisima, his confidence growing slowly began to take control of the fight in round six when he connected with several punches to the head before the youngster ripped a left to the liver that dropped Demecillio who turned away in excruciating pain as the referee called a halt to of the contest at 1:07 of the sixth round.

It was Santisima's 7th straight knockout victory while Demecillo who is always a crowd pleaser with his never-say-die style dropped to 21-5-1 with 16 knockouts.

Santisima throws a dagger punch to the heart of Demecillo.

Condes (R) can't get his timing on the slippery Jerusalem.

In an 8-round minimumweight bout, Melvin Jerusalem (9-0-0, 7KO) used his faster hands and nifty footwork to overcome a ring rusty former IBF world champion Florante "Little Pacquiao" Condes whose long layoff told on the the 35 year old who, despite the presence of Aljoe Jaro in his corner couldn't
find the range for his powerful left hand even as his timing was way off.

Jerusalem won handily 78-74, 78-74 on the scorecards of two of the three judges but a third judge turned in an inexplicable even tally of 76-76.

Cataraja (R) attacks Rodriguez in the corner.

In 8-round flyweight bout, promising 20 year old Kevin Jake Cataraja (3-0-0, 2KO) out-punched and out-witted Mexico's Tony Rodriguez (3-2-0, 1KO) who fought in spurts and lasted the distance despite a huge welt under his right eye that was almost closed shut and served as a target for Cataraja in the closing rounds.

In an interesting 8-round super lightweight match-up, Elmo Traya (11-1-0, 8KO) scored a roundly booed majority decision over veteran Romeo Jakosalem, the Philippine Boxing Federation champion who connected with a stinging left jab and solid combinations to thwart the 20 year old Traya with two judges
scoring the fight 78-74 for Traya while the third judge had it a draw at 76-76 in a bum majority decision which was loudly booed by fight fans many of whom condemned what they called a hometown decision.
