Unbeaten featherweight Mark "Magnifico" Magsayo needs a big win over Mexico's tough Eduardo Montoya in the "Pinoy Pride 35" fight card at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu on Saturday before a fight with American Chris Avalos can be finalized.

ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer did the right thing when he told us that while he had sent a contract to the handlers of Avalos and that Top Rank matchmaker Brad Goodman had "agreed in principle" by Aldeguer said they can't sign the contract since Magsayo "has a fight on February 27 against Eduardo Montoya. We need to respect that fight (against Montoya). That's the agreement. We don't want to overlook Montoya."

Aldeguer told The Standard that the unbeaten young proteges of ALA Promotions are "excited but there is no more tension" as evidenced prior to their first appearance in the US when both scored impressive victories.

The 26 year old "Hitman" Avalos has a record of 26-4 with 19 knockouts and has beaten Filipinos Rey Perez by an eight round unanimous decision on August 1 last year, Rolly Lunas in a WBO/NABO super bantamweight title fight on November 16, 2013 with Avalos scoring a 3rd round kockout and Drian Francisco in a unanimous decision in a clash for the vacant WBO /NABO title on July 12, 2013.

However, Avalos lost by a 5th round TKO in a scheduled ten-round bout against Top Rank protege Oscar Valdez in a featherweight bout last September 11 after earlier losing by a 5th round TKO to Britain's Carl Frampton in an IBF title fight on February 28, 2015.
