NOURI-LED ROEL PACQUIAO CHESS TEAM SHINES IN SECOND ROUND

GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- Roel Pacquiao Chess Team, anchored by youthful FIDE Master Alekhine Nouri, demolished the Guevarra Law Defenders, 3-1, Sunday and emerged co-leader after two rounds of the Bobby Pacquiao Random Chess Festival at the SM Mall here.

Nouri, barely in his teen and protege of boxing national hero Manny Pacquiao, showed the way to Jason Salubre to lead his team amass 7 points of a possible 8 points and a share of early leadership with Property Expert Realty B in the 64-team field.

The Realtors, made up of four unranked campaigners and one of the three teams the realty firm doing battle here, created a sort of a stir in the 256-player cast width stinging reversal of the a side reinforced by National Masters Ronald Llavanes and Bob Jones Liwagon.

Five teams, inculding opening day co-leader NICA Tim Ilonggo were cramped in second place with 6 /2 points each.

Also trailing the leaders by mere half-point going into Day 3 of the prestigious tournament were the team of Cong. Anthony del Rosario, Novelty Ches Club of Bulacan, Dimachintucan, and Tagaytay City.

The Ilonggos edged Tanza Belvedere, 2.5-1.5; the same results submitted by Team Anthony del Rosario over M.A. Yabut Team B of Pampanga, 2.5-1.5; the Bulakenos and Tagaytay City. Dimanchintucan took the measure of Properety Expert Realty A, 3-1.

Still two teams -- Gensan Omicrons and MDFragata followed with 6 point apiece -- while Cotabato Province, Elman Team A, Pacman Team C and SLVP had 5.5 points each. Bobby Pacquiao A, Bobby Pacquiao TEam B and Elegcant Houses of Pampanga, Inchess Asia, Nurjay Sahali A, M.S. Yabut B, JJO-CDO Kingslayer and TARAKA of Lanao Sur had 5 points each.

Two more upsets marked the third day of competition with NM Merben Roque's MDFragata, embarrassing the Graxndmaater Joey Antonio-powered side of Novelty Chess Club of Quezon City.
Pacman PWD matched that feat with a 2 1/2-1 1/2 conquest of favored Team Babablacksheep, 2 1/2-1/12.
