The Guevara brothers, former WBC light flyweight champion Pedro and his brother Alberto scored contrasting wins over Filipino challengers Jether ?The General? Oliva and Edward Mansito in Maxzatlan, Mexico on Sunday, Manila Time.

Pedro who lost his title to Japan?s Yu Kimura in a widely criticized split decision, had no problems handling Oliva, winning by a 100-91 shutout over ten rounds while younger brother Alberto had a rough time against Mansueto whose fiery attack troubled Guevara who eked out a majority decision.
The win by Pedro Guevara set him in line for a possible rematch against Kimura.

Pedro displayed tremendous hand-speed and overall skill against Oliva who has now lost three of his last four fights while Guevara who improved to 27-2-1 with 17 knockouts, winning his last three fights all in his hometown in Mexico.

Bantamweight Alberto who challenged for the world title twice has had problems in his last two fights with Mansito?s power forcing Guevara to discard his plans to engage the hard-hitting Filipino and to instead concentrate on out-boxing him which he successfully did to receive the nod of two of the three judges who scored the fight in favor of Alberto 78-75 and 77-75 while the third had it an even 76-76 in an eight round bout.

With the win Alberto ?Metro? Guevara improved to 24-2, with 9 knockouts while Mansito dropped to 13-4-2 with 7 knockouts.
