GENERAL SANTOS CITY -- Nica Team Ilonggo and Team Roel Pacquiao served strong notice of their determined title bid by shutting out their respective opponents in the opening day Saturday of the Bobby Pacquiao Random Chess Festival being held at the SM Mall Trade Hall here.

The Law Defenders beat Taraka Chess Team of Lanao Sur, 3-1; GenSan Omicrons whipped Davao Chess Eagles, 3-1; M.A. Yabut trounced Team J4S-Justice for Seafarers, 3.5-0.5; Property Expert Realty B subdued sister team Property Expert Realty C, 3-1; Nurjay Sahali routed RP Sarangani B, 3.5-0.5; Elman Team A repelled Sulu Chess Club Society Inc., 3-1; Pacman Team C dumped MP Tower, 3-1; MD FRagata edged Pacman GenSan Team, 2.5-1.5; Dimachintucan Team of International Master Oliver Dimakiling crushed Pacman Butitingoy Team, 3.5-0.5; Tagyatay City Chess Club downed Barracks Chess Master, 3-1; Elman Team B nipped Madalum Maritima Chess Team, 2.5-1.5; and Pacman Warriors pipped USCCI-Kusug Tausog, 2.5-1.5.
