Talavera.
The national bantamweight champion of Nicaragua Yesner "Cuajadita" Talavera knows he is a huge underdog in his fight against unbeaten Prince Albert Pagara, but is not afraid as he looks for recognition when he travels to the Philippines to face Pagara who was described by Nicaraguan media as "a local hero" in a ten round bout at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino on February 27 in the main event of an exciting fight card.
An excited Talavera will be traveling on 20 February and told reporter Ruben Murillo Haxel, "I'm motivated, I took this challenge thinking that I wonder. My opponent is very tough, but for this we are to fight the best."
His fight against Pagara will be be the star of an 8 fight card on the widely followed "Pinoy Pride" series of ALA PROMOTIONS in cooperation with ABS-CBN.
Talavera with a record of 15 wins (4 by KO), 3 losses and a draw is the reigning 118 pound Nicaraguan champion but his bout against Prince Albert will be at 122 pounds for the IBF Intercontinental and WBO Youth titles.
Albert Pagara, who knocked out William "Chirizo" Gonzalez after 2 minutes and 20 seconds of the sixth round held on October 2015 in the StubHub Center in Carson City, California is conceded to be unbeatable and as media reports from Nicaragua said while Yesner Talavera "is happy, in theory they are putting bait to augment the record of a monster.
"He took took the challenge of facing the Filipino thinking that might surprise him, but harsh and cruel reality says the chances of a victory are minimal.
"Pagara is an undefeated fighter of 25 wins, 18 by knockout, who aims to become the next Filipino world champion. He is far superior to all unique: faster, more punchy, more technical and experienced resources."
Former two division world champion Rosendo Alvarez, manager and coach will be traveling with Talavera to take the lead in his corner.
The media noted that Pagara who is 5 feet 6 inches tall has a strong punch with both hands, as evidenced by his 18 wins in his unbeaten run of 25 fights, with a knockout percentage of 72 percent.
Pagara vs Talavera tops the Billboard while in the supporting main event undefeated Mark Magsayo (12-0) measures his chances against Mexican Eduardo Montoya (17-4-1) in combat in the featherweight division.
Talavera will not come as a favorite but Hexel says "it would project a triumph looking for a global opportunity and needs to rediscover himself after his last title defense which ended in a no contest against Guillermo "Memo" Ruiz.
The Ortiz fight ended in a no contest when just at the beginning an unintentional headbutt caused a cut eyebrow.
